Check out some of ILEA’s materials, resource items and a sample of our well loved newsletter – Accents on Language!
Here is a recent ILEA newsletter for you to enjoy!
ILEA has its own children’s book – Weekend School! It tells the story of Josephine and her time in Saturday school. This book was first read to an audience at Mother Tongue Day in Edmonton, Alberta in 2009, organized by our sister association IHLA. MS Word versions can be made available to members so that they can edit this book for their own purposes. Download and read it now!
ILEA has had many positive responses for its Think Literacy supplements – work that was coordinated and funded by the Ministry of Education. Check out the Reading and Writing supplement for IL levels 1 and 2 of Think Literacy. Strategies from Think Literacy for Oral Communication also available.
The Ministry of Education provided ILEA with a grant to take the principles of financial literacy and create activities for the language classroom based on those principles. Unit plans have been created along with sample activity descriptions and rubrics for culminating tasks. Activity description handouts have also been translated/interpreted into French, Spanish, German, Arabic and Simplified Mandarin. These are available in the attached documents below.
